The static dielectric constant of a simple anisotropic dielectric model, which consists of anisotropically polarizable molecules, is calculated with the aid of the extended Fröhlich formula, and a molecular Clausius–Mossotti type formula is obtained. The macroscopic Clausius–Mossotti formula for anisotropic dielectrics is also derived. In these calculations the inside field and the reaction field in anisotropic dielectrics have been used, the derivation of which is given in detail.
