During a study to determine the frequency of papillomas in the chaffinch, tumor material from 4 birds was examined with the electron microscope. Previous suggestion of a virologic etiology of the lesion was confirmed by the presence of characteristic intranuclear virus particles in all specimens. Also this papilloma seems specific for the subfamily Fringillinae.
