SummaryThe association between maternal shoe size, stature and method of delivery was investigated prospectively in 264 consecutive primigravid Caucasian patients. We conclude that shoe size is a useful clinical guide for the probability of cephalopelvic disproportion in mothers of height equal to or less than 155 cm. In this group, there was a threefold increase in the risk of disproportion in mothers with shoe size less than 5 compared to mothers with a shoe size of 5 or more.
