Three groups of cases showing bone destruction in carcinoma of the uterus are referred to:— (1) Blood-borne metastases. (2) Direct invasion of bone from primary or lymphnodes, and (3) Post-irradiation necrosis. Illustrations are given of each type. The importance of distinguishing between these three types of bone destruction is referred to, and a case reported which is thought to be one of post-irradiation necrosis of bone where a doubtful X-ray report had been taken to indicate the presence of a metastasis. The subsequent treatment with large fields produced necrosis of bone and such an extensive necrosis of the skin as to cause the patient's death.
