The objectives of the study were to: Assess the effect of infrared radiation in the healing of episiotomy wound among postnatal mothers. Assess the relationship between episiotomy wound healing and selected demographic variables. Find out the rate of episiotomy wound healing with application of infrared radiation (lamp) and without application of infrared radiation(control group). The review of literature enabled the investigator to formulate the tool of episiotomy wound healing rating scale or REDDA scale.Conceptual framework based on modified Kings goal attainment theory was developed to describe the concept of the study. The research design adopted was Quasi experimental, which involves the observations on different days. The tool was validated andreliability was determined by the Guttman Split half method during pilot study. The main study was conducted at Acharya Vinoba BhaveRural Hospital, Sawangi, in Wardha district, a sample size of 50 postnatal mothers were selected by using purposive sampling technique.Demographic profile of postnatal mothers and episiotomy wound healing rating scale (REDDA) were used for data collection. A separateroom for treatment and observation was located for data collection. Ethical considerations were maintained throughout the study.Collected data were analyzed by using both descriptive and inferential statistics (percentage, mean, standard deviation, paired t-testChi-square and Fishers exact test).
