A study is made of the interaction of O 2 , , , , Cl 2 , , and with a tin‐lead alloy (50‐50% by weight). Studies were made at both high (10–100%) and low (0.1–100 ppm) concentrations. At the high concentrations, some interaction is observed for all except and . At concentrations below 100 ppm, only and Cl 2 interact with the tin‐lead to any extent. Products formed are for and and for Cl 2 . Kinetic data are presented for the interaction of these two gases with along with the effect of relative humidity. Relative humidity is shown to have a strong effect on the interaction, with high relative humidity enhancing the interaction for Cl 2 but inhibiting the interaction for .
