The magnetic susceptibility and electrical resistivity of yttrium metal have been measured below 300 °K. The susceptibility of yttrium increases from 186 ± 5 × 10 -6 e.m.u. (g atom) -1 at 293 °K to 195 ± 5 × 10 -6 e.m.u. (g atom) -1 at 10 °K. The susceptibility results disagree completely with the recent measurements of Chechernikov et al. In addition, no anomaly in either the susceptibility values or the resistivity values is evident at about 170 °K.
