High‐frequency three‐component array data are used to study thePandScoda produced by local earthquakes. The data are displayed as broadband bearing‐time records which allow us to examine a complete time history of the propagation directions and arrival times of direct and scattered phases crossing the array. This visualization technique is used to examine the wavefield on two scale lengths using two sub‐arrays of sensors. Results suggest thatPcoda is dominated byPenergy propagating sub‐parallel to the diectParrival. TheScoda propagates in all directions and appears to be composed predominantly ofSand/or surface wave energy. Significantly moreScoda appears on the smaller scale length sub‐array relative to the larger scale array suggesting that much of theScoda remains coherent for only very short distances.
