Extended fine structures have been observed in autoionization emission spectra of chromium. Their origin has been determined by a one-to-one comparison with the extended energy-loss fine structures above the M₂₃ energy absorption process. Similarly to x-ray and electron-induced absorption spectra, both near-edge and extended fine features can be observed and distinguished in autoionization spectra.
