A sensitive voltammetric method is developed for the detection of apomorphine using a Nafion film modified glassy carbon electrode. In this method, apomorphine is first accumulated into the electrode via ion-exchange. The redox peaks at around +0.2 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) corresponding to a two-electron oxidation/reduction of apomorphine were used for detection with square-wave voltammetry. The effects of experimental parameters, such as, pH, accumulation potential, accumulation time, and square-wave voltammetric parameters were studied. Using this method with an accumulation time of 3 min, a linear calibration plot for apomorphine was obtained up to 4×10−7 M in pH 6.0 buffer solution with a detection limit of 3×10−9 M.
