The method of calculating γ dose by using the absorbed fraction of emitted γ energy has been extended to include uniform distributions of radioactivity. Two cases have been considered; total body dose for uniform distributions of radioactivity and the self-dose to organs containing activity. The dose reciprocity relation for γ emitters has been confirmed for certain geometries by direct Monte Carlo calculation. By using this reciprocity relationship the tables of absorbed fraction for point sources given by the authors previously (Ellett et al., 1964) can be used to calculate the dose at points within a uniform distribution of activity.
