La–In-based oxysulfide is demonstrated to act as a photocatalyst for the reduction of H+ to H2 and the oxidation of H2O to O2 in the presence of sacrificial reagents under visible light (420 ≤ λ ≤ 480 nm). Loading with IrO2 is effective for promoting O2 evolution, while Pt is effective as a cocatalyst for H2 evolution.
