Considers the nonlinear resonant interaction between three small amplitude waves in a spatially homogeneous plasma, which is situated in an external high-frequency electric field of comparatively large magnitude. The coupling coefficients, which represent the strength of the interaction, are calculated. It is found that they can be significantly changed by the applied field, when the field-induced electron velocities are larger than the thermal speed. The external field can also have a stabilizing effect on nonlinearly unstable systems.
