A novel method for the reconstruction of the electron momentum density (EMD) from directional Compton-profile data, based on the use of the radon transform, is presented. It supersedes all the previously suggested reconstruction techniques in simplicity and practicability. As an illustration, we reconstruct the EMD of vanadium, which is one of the most widely studied transition metals.
