The extended fine structure at the K absorption edge of metallic cadmium (26.7 keV) has been measured with synchrotron radiation to test possibilities and restriction of the EXAFS technique at this photon energy. The analysis of the signal has been performed to extract the distance of the nearest neighbours: the value R E =2.965+or-0.025 AA obtained is in good agreement with the crystallographic value R c =2.979 AA. The experimental phaseshift of the photoelectronic wave has been extracted and compared with theoretical values.
