Measurements have been made of the spectral response of the photon-drag effect in p-type germanium using CO 2 , CO, H 2 O, HCl and HF lasers. It is shown that the photon-drag field per unit intensity reverses in sign three times between 2.5 and 11.0 mu m wavelength. The rather complex spectrum obtained is explained by reference to the band structure of p-type germanium and the energy dependence of the scattering mechanisms involved.
