The fine structures on the short wave-length side of the K-x-ray absorption edges of the elements Cu, Se, Br, Rb, Sr, and As in the compounds RbBr, SrBr₂, Cu₂Se, CuBr, ZnSe, AgBr, CuSeO₄·{}5H₂O, CuHAsO₃, and Cu(AsO₄)₂·{}4H₂O have been investigated with a focusing transmission spectrograph. The structures of two elements in the same ionic crystal lattice are not identical, and some are different even at energy distances of 150 volts from the main edge. Some factors other than crystal structure alone are shown to influence the fine structure.
