Primary urothelial nature of these neoplasms was demonstrated after careful clinical and pathological examination. In both cases tumor cells contained typical melanosomes revealed by 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine reaction, silver stains and electron microscopy. The possible variants of histogenesis of urothelial melanomas are discussed. © 1982 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited ByDe Torres I, Fortuno M, Raventos A, Tarragona J, Banus J and Vidal M (2018) Primary Malignant Melanoma of the Bladder: Immunohistochemical Study of a New Case and Review of the LiteratureJournal of Urology, VOL. 154, NO. 2, (525-527), Online publication date: 1-Aug-1995.Frasier B, Wachs B, Watson L and Tomasulo J (2018) Malignant Melanoma of the Renal Pelvis Presenting as a Primary TumorJournal of Urology, VOL. 140, NO. 4, (812-814), Online publication date: 1-Oct-1988.Alroy J, Ucci A, Heaney J, Mitcheson H, Gavris V and Woods W (2018) Multifocal Pigmentation of Prostatic and Bladder UrotheliumJournal of Urology, VOL. 136, NO. 1 Part 1, (96-97), Online publication date: 1-Jul-1986.Stein B and Kendall A (2018) Malignant Melanoma of the Genitourinary TractJournal of Urology, VOL. 132, NO. 5, (859-868), Online publication date: 1-Nov-1984.
