Distannylated bis(cyclopentadienyl) and bis(indenyl) ligands react with ZrCl 4 and HfCl 4 to give the corresponding ansa -metallocenes in high yield. It was shown that the racemic forms of ansa -metallocenes could be prepared from the racemic forms of starting dielement-substituted bis(cyclopentadienyl) ligands.
