A coplanar nanostructure composed of two types of organosilane molecules has been fabricated by a method that combines scanning probe lithography and molecular self-assembly. Regulation of the surface potential on the nanometer scale is focussed on and investigated using Kelvin-probe force microscopy (see Figure for a surface potential image).
