A theory is developed for the now well-known ’’long time tails’’ on the velocity correlation function for finite systems. The theory is used to calculate the system size dependence of the self-diffusion coefficient in two dimensions and the form of the ’’tail’’ in small two dimensional systems. The relationship between a three dimensional system with one small edge and a true two dimensional system is investigated.
