The similar problem of a simply supported pipe with pulsatile flow has previously been considered by J. H. Ginsberg in the International Journal of Engineering Science, Vol.11, No. 9, pp.1013.In that case, however, since there is no fluid-induced damping, the limiting behavior studied in this paper is not observed.
