Capillary electrophoresis studies on a range of octahedral α-diimine complexes employing potassium antimonyl d-tartrate as the chiral buffer medium results in effective separation of the Λ and Δ enantiomers. With utilization of these procedures, the optical purity of resolved species is rapidly established on the basis of a single injection. When calf thymus B-DNA serves as the chiral medium, separations of Λ and Δ-Ru(phen)32+ and Ru(bpy)32+ are also effected.
