It has been shown that the electron density in a positive column He–Cd + laser discharge, where the electron energy distribution is non-Maxwellian, can be determined conveniently with the same modified double probe method as used in the case of the Maxwellian electron energy distribution. This method can be applied to other positive column He-metal laser discharges at medium pressures generally.
