The degradation of addition polymers by ultrasonic waves. II.

An accurate solution of the kinetics of degradation of addition polymers of known initial size distribution is given. This solution differs from an approximate solution given in a previous paper. The result obtained is applied to a sample of 1% polystyrene in benzene. The theoretical weight distribution curves at different stages of degradation, derived from the approximate and the accurate solutions, are given. The points of difference between the two resulting distributions are briefly discussed.
