Synthesis of compounds related to antihemorrhagic vitamin K. II: β‐Naphthol and β‐naphthylamine as starting materials for the synthesis of 2‐methyl‐ and 2‐ethyl‐1,4‐naphthoquinones

A general method of synthesis of 2‐alkyl‐1,4‐naphthoquinones (with special references to 2‐methyl‐ and 2‐ethyl‐1,4‐naphthoquinones, recently proved to possess strong, anti‐hemorrhagic vitamin K activity), using β‐naphthol and β‐naphthylamine as starting materials, is described in this paper.
