Literature review reports clinical manifestations of high internal jugular vein bulbs in otosurgery patients, highlighting preoperative planning to prevent complications.
Knowledge of the anatomical features of the structures of the temporal bone is important in the practice of an otosurgeon. Nevertheless, information on the high bulb of the internal jugular vein is extremely scarce in the available medical literature. The search and analysis of modern scientific publications from publicly available information resources, including review articles, original research, monographs, observations of clinical cases, and textbooks from domestic and foreign authors, has been carried out. The features of clinical manifestations and differential diagnosis with high standing of the bulb of the internal jugular vein were reported. The importance of careful preoperative preparation and prevention of intraoperative complications was noted.
