New evidence suggests that the monomeric aryl metal compounds 2,4,6‐Ph3C6H2M (M = Cu, Ag) may be mixtures of 2,4,6‐Ph3C6H2M and 2,4,6‐Ph3C6H2Br or merely the aryl bromide. Although the aryl metal compounds appeared to be well characterized in 1988 by spectroscopic and X‐ray crystallographic methods, doubts arising from theoretical considerations—in particular CCu and CAg distances of presumably the same length—led to reexamination of the X‐ray data.
