Amorphous-nanostructured Zr64Cu16Ni10Al9.5Nb0.5 composites were produced by heat treatment in argon. Ribbons (6 mm wide, 55 μm thick) were obtained by melt spinning. The parameters of crystallization, such as glass transition temperature (Tg), onset crystallization temperature (Tx), activation energy of crystallization (Ea) and enthalpy of crystallization (ΔHx) were determined. TEM and XRD revealed nanocrystalline inclusions cF96 Zr2Ni (5–25 nm) phase forming above Tg. Increasing temperature and duration raised crystalline fraction and Vickers hardness from 500 to 675 HV. Crystalline fractions above 50% in the amorphous matrix led to brittle fracture. Thermomechanical treatment below Tg under dynamic loading induced unconventional crystallization pathways.
