Description of Boulder and Polish On the Kickapoo Indian Reservation in the southwest corner of section 27, T. 4 S., R. 16 E., Brown County, Kansas, is a large wedgeshaped erratic of red Huronian quartzite which was brought to its present location by the Kansan ice sheet. The boulder, whose extent beneath the surface is not known, measiures approximately 15 by 10 by 5 feet above the surface. It is in the form of a large 'wedge whose longest axis trends northwest-southeast and whose blunt, highest and steepest side faces the northwest. This side forms a straight wall which slopes toward the base of the boulder forming an overhanging wall. By measurement the top of the wall projects over its base one foot in a vertical distance of five feet. This is equivalent approximately to a dip of 770 to the southeast. In sharp contrast to the overhanging wall are the other sides of the boulder, all of which have their bases projecting beyond their tops. At the extreme northeast corner, the base of the face lies one foot, nine inches beyond its top which is four feet, nine inches above the ground.
