A case of prolonged hypoglycæmia of initially obscure origin was found to be due to the erroneous consumption of 750 mg of chlorpropamide every day for six weeks. Hypoglycæmia was not associated with elevated plasma insulin levels and appeared to be due to an extrapancreatic effect of the sulphonylurea. The importance of obtaining an accurate history of drug ingestion in cases of hypoglycæmia of obscure origin is emphasized.
