A conversion of the vinylidene ligand into a 1-alkylvinyl ligand is possible by addition of trialkylaluminum to the vinylideneiridium complex 1, which leads to the AIR2-bridged complex 2. Prerequisite for this reaction is the coordinatively unsaturated metal center in 1 (R = Me, Et).
