Raman Scattering from Powdered 9, 10-Anthraquinone

The Raman spectrum of powdered 9,10-anthraquinone has been studied in the 200–1700-cm−1 region using He–Ne laser 6328-Å excitation and a double monochromator for analyzing the scattered light. Twenty-one lines are observed in this region. The assignment of the lines is discussed on the basis of Raman and infrared data on anthracene and on infrared data on anthraquinone.
