Reaction of ethynylphosphane 1 with BuLi leads to 3,4‐diphospha‐1,5‐hexadiyne 4, which undergoes valence isomerisation to 3,4‐bis(phosphamethylene)‐1‐cyclobutene 6. The structure of 6 has been confirmed by X‐ray structure determination.
