We give some results of measurements about the depolarization of the light scattered by gaseous Argon and Methane. We try to explain our results by taking into account the fluctuations of the polarizing field. The agreement is rather good for Argon and Methane but the study of the Kerr effect by Buckingham et al. [1] indicates that it is not true for all the isotropic molecules.
