The theory of dielectric instabilities in high-permittivity glasses is extended to include the effects of intrinsic glass softening on approach to the crystallization temperature Tcryst. A number of marked dielectric features can develop via the interplay of glass softening and dipolar effects. These are described for both nonpolar and polar glass models and include anomalies both at and below Tcryst which closely resemble features which have been observed in high-permittivity glasses.
