The magnetic Compton profile (MCP) for ordered Fe 72 Pt 28 has been measured at T = 305 and 490 K. The shape of the MCPs are compared to one obtained from first principles band-structure calculations for the ferromagnetic ground state. The theoretical analysis includes a decomposition of the various orbital and atomic contributions. The experiments indicate a discernible change in the shape of the MCP with increasing temperature, and possible implications for the observed change in shape are discussed.
