Hollow‐core photonic‐crystal fibers with a specially designed dispersion profile offer unique phase‐matching solutions for gas‐phase coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) in isolated guided modes with a transverse radius of only a few micrometers. Efficient single‐mode CARS tuned to a Raman resonance with 2331 cm−1 Q‐branch vibrations of molecular nitrogen filling the hollow core of the photonic crystal fiber is demonstrated using the second‐harmonic output of a Q‐switched Nd:YAG laser and wavelength‐tunable dye‐laser radiation as pump fields.
