A total of approximately 29,000 eggs were used in five experiments to evaluate the effect of duration of incubation time in turning trays on the hatchability of hen eggs. Chicks hatched in the final experiment were also used to evaluate the effects of transfer time on the subsequent performance of broiler chicks grown to slaughter age. Eggs were transferred from turning to hatcher trays at various hourly intervals after 13 to 20 days of incubation without any significant effects (P>.05) on hatchability. Incubator transfer time was not significantly (P<.05) affected when eggs were held up to 7 days and 7 to 14 days prior to incubation. Broiler chicks hatched from eggs transferred after 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 days of incubation were not significantly (P>.05) affected in their subsequent performance by the time of egg transfer during incubation.
