Two etching techniques were developed to enhance the morphological textures of semicrystalline poly(p-phenylene sulfide) (PPS). One technique is based on chromic acid solutions, whereas the other uses anhydrous aluminum chloride. The latter approach was shown to be more appropriate and successful in enhancing the spherulitic textures of PPS.
