Eucalyptus obliqua and Pinus radiata sapwood stakes treated with either of five copper-containing preservatives were exposed in soil troughs in the CSIRO accelerated field simulator for 5.5 years. Three retentions were used, based on 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0 kg elemental copper per cubic metre. Two ammoniacal copper soap formulations, and copper-ethanolamine-nonanoate, performed reasonably well although they were not always as effective as copper-chrome-arsenic.
