Solid state reactions between rare earth orthophosphate (RPO4) and oxides (SiO2, Al2O3, or CaO) in the air were studied by means of X-ray diffractometry. RPO4 does not react with SiO2, decomposing on heating above 1800 °C with Al2O3, or above 700 °C with CaO.
