Parametric scaling of neutral-beam-heated tokamaks is examined to determine the trade-off between beam energy and power. It is shown that when the plasma thermal conductivity is inversely proportional to the local density, the centre mean plasma temperature is a function of , where E B and P A are the beam energy and incident beam power per unit area, respectively. The parameter δ, which depends only upon the plasma density profile, is of order unity.
