Summary A case of arthrogryposis multiplex congenita in a girl, who died three days old, is described. Microscopy of the spinal cord revealed total loss of the motor cells of the anterior horn. The characteristics of this neurogenic disorder and its relation to myogenic a.m.c. and to Werdnig Hoffmann's disease are discussed.
