A group of six new antifungal metabolites (ambruticins VS‐1 to ‐5, VS‐3 N‐oxide) was isolated from the myxobacterium Sorangium cellulosum. They were separated by RP chromatography and identified as (5S,6R)‐5‐amino‐6‐hydroxypolyangioic acids 1b–e, 2b and methyl ester 2a by spectroscopic methods.
