Framework management: A method of preventing the continuous condensation of transition-metal species in solution by adding triethyl phosphite is proposed. Condensation reactions between titanium species are inhibited by the presence of the phosphite, which results in less-condensed titania-based frameworks (see figure). The calcination temperature controls the framework crystallinity and mesoporosity to give anatase nanocrystal films with high photocatalytic performance.
