The dicationic bis(gold)-biarylphosphine π-alkene complexes {(P–P)[Au(π-alkene)] 2 } 2+ 2SbF 6 – [P–P = 2,2′-bis(di- tert -butylphosphino)biphenyl; alkene = isobutylene, 1-pentene] were isolated in >95% yield from reaction of alkene with a 1:2 mixture of (P–P)(AuCl) 2 and AgSbF 6 and were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.
