Cirrhosis of the liver is no longer a hopeless, incurable disease destined to progress until death intervenes. Recent reports1are rapidly accumulating evidence which shows that many patients with hepatic cirrhosis can improve, or recover as judged by clinical observations and laboratory tests, after treatment by the Patek regimen,1a, bwith choline or with choline and cystine.1iI have reported elsewhere a detailed analysis of the results of treatment in cirrhosis of the liver in a series of 62 patients studied at two year intervals1jover an eight year period of time. In this present paper the results and basis for the treatment of choice in cirrhosis are described and offered for trial by others.
