Referring to that point about high death rate in captive broods, it is of interest to note that when this took place there was an almost equal death rate in wild larvae left on trees-death not due to parasitism. I believe that this is one method of natural control by means of a change in the chemical composition of the foliage-retarding larval growth and even causing death.
