The development of a cw room-temperature laser tunable in the 0.86–1 μ range, utilizing F2+ color centers in an LiF crystal, is reported. When pumped by a krypton laser ( λ = 0.647 mm), its lasing threshold was 400 mW. A method of regenerating centers using excimer laser radiation ( λ =310 on) was tried.
